Magpie Magazine

In the few years since Marian Keyes penned her first novel, Watermelon, she's had success after success on the bestseller list with titles including Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married and Rachel's holiday. In Sushi for Beginners, Keyes continues in the light-hearted vein that made her earlier books a hit with readers. Ashling loses her job on an Ireland's Own-type publication only to land the position of assistant editor on Colleen, a glam new title. Her editor, the bitchy Lisa, has been parachuted in from London and isn't a bit happy about it. Meanwhile, the delectable Jack Devine oversees things at Colleen, in-between violent rows with this exotic girlfriend Mai, and Ashling can't decide whether or not she fancies up-and-coming comedian Marcus Valentine. The wise reader, needless to say, knows she's setting her cap at the wrong fella.
