Buried in the heart of Marian Keyes's delightful collection of columns and essays, Under the Duvet (Michael Joseph,10stg) -most of them fizzy and frothy in the best senses of those words -there is a piece which on its own is worth the cover price. She calls it "The Pissed is a Foreign Country, They Do Things Differently There" (yes, Keyes is a slave to puns) and it is the story of how a nice middle-dass girl like her becomes an alcoholic. Yet again, Marian Keyes shows she's not just a pretty phrase-maker but something much more.
